Have a question? Need guidance planning your next event? Whether it’s a conference, a function or a theatre performance, our Opera House staff are here to help you get your next event up and running.

The Opera House has nine flexible spaces, providing professional event management and experienced technical teams to ensure we can transform from a serious conference space into an elegant dining and function environment or event venue. Wifi is available in all areas of the Opera House and ceiling projectors and screens are fixtures in the Whitestone Contracting Auditorium, the Inkbox, the Whitestone Cheese Empire Room and The Chambers.

We work with small groups of five to large audiences of over five hundred and our team will help you deliver an exceptional experience for everyone involved.

Associated Services

Staffing

  • Duty Manager (required if booking is out of office hours)
  • Lighting, sound and masking operator
  • Stage crew for pack-in/out, rigging, masking, etc.

Equipment

  • Projector and screen
  • Laptop hire
  • 2m x 1m decks (includes set-up)
  • Hanging cloths: silver and gold lame, white silks, red velvet

Theming

  • Extra staging to increase stage size
  • Piano: Upright Steinway
  • Box truss tower for up-lighting (Includes 2x par cans and labour)

Catering

A full catering menu is available for morning and afternoon teas, and lunches. The Opera House Cafe & Bar is located in The Grand Foyer which is suitable for pre-function nibbles & drinks, or as a private casual meeting space.

For banquets, functions or cocktail events, the Oamaru Opera House has preferred caterers to ensure that exceptional levels of service are received. All caterers offer tailor-made menus to suit your needs and your budget.

The Opera House Cafe & Bar is open Monday to Friday 8.30am to 3.30pm, or open on request.
