LOCATION

Oamaru is a gorgeous harbour town surrounded by stunning natural beauty. It is centrally located on the South Island’s east coast 3 hours south of Christchurch or 90 minutes north of Dunedin.

OAMARU’S TOWNSHIP

Oamaru’s museums, shops and galleries are situated within some of New Zealand’s best 19th century architecture. With one of the country’s oldest public gardens, two penguin colonies, four golf courses and many walking and cycling trails there are plenty of opportunities to experience nature at its best. Oamaru has a very proud heritage which is told through the Victorian Precinct and tours at a variety of locations in town. It is also the home to remarkable and renowned restaurants, like Riverstone Kitchen, Cucina and Fleur’s Place. The Waitaki district offers visitors a welcoming and friendly environment with a huge range of experiences to participate in and enjoy.

ACCESS AND PARKING

For evening shows, you’ll usually be able to find ample street parking along Thames St or Wear St. The earlier you arrive, of course, the closer you can get! During the day there are generally spaces available along Thames St.

All of our spaces are wheelchair accessible. Please call 03 4330779  if you require wheelchair seating at one of our performances.

DEVICE & PHOTOGRAPHY POLICY

The Opera House has free wireless throughout the building available for our cafe customers and for conferences and meetings. Just ask our staff for passwords.

The usual etiquette in a theatre is to keep all phones and devices turned off, including for photos. We ask all patrons to keep their devices turned off during performances.

Staying in touch is an important part of the work we do.

We have regular shows & events that we ́d love to keep you updated with. You can join our email list, or follow us on social media to ensure you ́re getting the most up to date information.
