Cancelled & Postponed Shows

Cancelled & Postponed Shows

Your tickets are safe with us. Oamaru Opera House is happy to have moved to a new, independent ticket provider that allows us to protect our customers and hold your ticket funds in-house. This means refunds are available for any cancelled shows in the future.

2020 was a difficult year for many and for the Opera House this was compounded by many cancelled shows and the collapse of our ticket agent, which left the Opera House and a lot of our customers out of pocket. We want to assure you that we have taken measures to protect our customers and ensure this can never happen again, and you can purchase your ticket with confidence. We look forward to presenting many exceptional shows in 2021 and filling the Opera House with great people creating great memories.

Ticket Refunds

Our previous ticketing supplier Ticket Rocket (TicketDirect) is in liquidation and being administered by accounting firm BDO New Zealand. . If you have outstanding refunds due for cancelled or postponed shows, you can pursue recovery of your ticket refund. To do this you will need to email the receivers – the details are provided in this link, or the button below.

If you purchased your tickets prior to July 2020, your funds are in the accounts of our former ticketing company, Ticket Rocket (TicketDirect).  If you have purchased tickets from July 2020 onwards please contact the Oamaru Opera House ticket office for refund details. Unfortunately this situation is out of our control. We want to assure you that all tickets that were purchased at the Oamaru Opera House from 29 June onward and for all future ticketing, funds are securely held in a dedicated Waitaki District Council account. We strongly advise that ticketholders who purchased before July contact BDO with the details below. This is your chance to be part of the liquidation process and register as a creditor.

Please email the receivers at: and include:

ticket booking reference number

name of event

full name of purchaser

method of payment

where ticket was purchased (online or physical outlet)

BDO say it might take some time to process and respond to each claim.  We wish these circumstances were different, unfortunately it has been beyond our control.

We would like to assure you that the Oamaru Opera House has moved ticketing operations to an in-house system which will protect our customers and promoters from this situation arising again.
